Teaching Approach

Catalyst is founded in the cognitive science principles of the Science of Learning, a body of research into how students learn and how this connects to the practical implications for teaching.

TEACHING APPROACH

Empowering educators through professional learning

Catalyst provides professional learning that equips teachers with a deeper understanding of how students learn, process and retain new information. Teachers are supported in the continuous improvement of their teaching practice, using the latest data, evidence and expert insights. They are supported and encouraged to practice implementing the tools and techniques learned, receiving coaching and feedback to embed and sustain the change.

Ross Fox
Director – Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG)

“Any program of lasting change needs to be adopted theoretically, practically and culturally.

We know that our high-quality, low variance curriculum resources and our professional learning opportunities deliver exceptional theory and practice for teachers.”

Year 9 Student

“This way of teaching has made our lessons more engaging. We are reminded of past content through daily reviews so I am able to remember and recall information a lot better.

By going back to past content and reminding us of these concepts we don’t forget it and I can better recall that information.

Monique George
Year 3/4 Teacher at St Thomas the Apostle – Kambah

“I love teaching in this way allows children to be their best self, which makes you feel good as a teacher and you just want to keep building them up, which is then building you up.

I learn so much from watching others, to then have others come into my class to observe my lessons and watch me, I am so open share and collaborate and build each other up, that is the best thing about this Catalyst journey

    RESOURCES

    Equipping teachers and leaders
with the tools to succeed

Catalyst builds on our teachers and leaders professional knowledge and expertise to align to our focus on evidence-based, high-quality pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment.
To support them in doing so, we have designed and developed online professional development materials and  low variance curriculum resources to allow them more time  to focus on positively impacting students’ lives through learning.
